Here are the current stamp duty rates for property purchases in Australia (as of 2021):
New South Wales (NSW):
- Up to $14,000: $1.25 for every $100 or part thereof
- $14,001 to $31,000: $175 plus $1.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $14,000
- $31,001 to $83,000: $445 plus $1.75 for every $100 or part thereof over $31,000
- $83,001 to $310,000: $1,290 plus $3.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $83,000
- $310,001 to $1,033,000: $9,285 plus $4.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $310,000
- Over $1,033,001: $41,820 plus $5.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $1,033,000
Victoria (VIC):
- Up to $25,000: 1.4%
- $25,001 to $130,000: $350 plus 2.4% for every $1 over $25,000
- $130,001 to $960,000: $2,870 plus 6% for every $1 over $130,000
- $960,001 to $1,000,000: $40,870 plus 6.5% for every $1 over $960,000
- Over $1,000,001: $43,820 plus 5.5% for every $1 over $1 million
Queensland (QLD):
- Up to $5,000: $1.50 for every $100 or part thereof
- $5,001 to $75,000: $75 plus $3.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $5,000
- $75,001 to $540,000: $2,625 plus $4.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $75,000
- $540,001 to $1,000,000: $17,325 plus $5.75 for every $100 or part thereof over $540,000
- Over $1,000,001: $38,025 plus $6 for every $100 or part thereof over $1 million
Western Australia (WA):
- Up to $120,000: 1.9%
- $120,001 to $150,000: $2,280 plus 2.85% for every $1 over $120,000
- $150,001 to $360,000: $3,135 plus 3.8% for every $1 over $150,000
- $360,001 to $725,000: $11,115 plus 4.75% for every $1 over $360,000
- Over $725,001: $28,453 plus 5.15% for every $1 over $725,000
South Australia (SA):
- Up to $12,000: $1.50 for every $100 or part thereof
- $12,001 to $30,000: $180 plus $2 for every $100 or part thereof over $12,000
- $30,001 to $50,000: $540 plus $3 for every $100 or part thereof over $30,000
- $50,001 to $100,000: $1,440 plus $3.50 for every $100 or part thereof over $50,000
- Over $100,001: $2,870 plus $4
